The Big Guns come to Blyth

The Big Guns

After 70 years we have guns back in our gun emplacements. This is a dream come true for Blyth Battery Volunteers. They were manufactured by M. Fairington Engineers who we cannot thank enough.
They were transported and lifted into place by W. L STRAUGHAN and Son who stepped in at the last minute and did a fantastic job. The volunteers did a fantastic job of guiding them to the gun emplacements and bolting them into place.
We were given a donation from the Rotary club of Blyth to help with the installation.
The guns are replica Mark V11 6"naval guns virtually the same as what would have been there in WW2. 23' long with range of 7miles
or to the horizon.  We hope you enjoy seeing them
